turning 31 in nyc and burlington, vt...

we kicked off my 31st birthday the night before at satsko sake bar with the help of ricardo...

and a bar-friendly bird who stayed relatively sober...
then thursday afternoon we scoped out manhattan establishments such as vol de nuit...
craig stands against the backdrop of the Empire State Building...

and friday morning we left for vermont.

craig with mountains from the essex ferry...

again...

and the birthday girl with mountains

below is a photo of our bed & breakfast - so nice...

and our room...

the pedestrian mall along church street in burlington...

and kb, glad to be away from the grind!

craig loves gary, indiana...

a beautiful dusk scene as we retreated to freshen up before a night out...

lattes at "muddy waters"...cute name for a coffee shop!

mountains seen from the distance...
kristin enjoys the 70 degrees and sunny day...

so does craig!

we had an amazing time in vermont and can't wait to go back to burlington...what a great town!

last opening day at shea stadium...1964-2008

today we left work early to head to shea stadium for the last opening day at shea...
the tall stately building in the backdrop of shea is the new mets' stadium, citi field...coming 2009

here are our 2008 new york mets...
thus is thrown the final first pitch at shea!
another nice view from our seats behind home plate, mezzanine level, of shea and citi...
two mets fans grin and bear the eventual loss against the phillies...
craig stands with citi field behind him, proud as can be!

in the distance is the 7 train which runs parallel with roosevelt ave in queens and which carries the faithful fans to and from the games...
the mets lose their home opener, and fans head to the manhattan-bound 7...

and we couldn't believe our eyes, the crowds! hey, these people love their mets, win or lose!

out and about on a spring saturday...

this past saturday we headed to the west village and ate breakfast at a little diner, following it up with a delicious vanilla latte from the 11th Street Cafe pictured below...

while i snapped an overabundance of west village photographs, it's difficult to do the quaint little neighborhood justice in pictures. it's much more satisfying to walk the streets...
although, i think these street vendors were nearer soho...

of course, the Empire State Building is never far from view...
then we ducked into a bar we saw on the MOJO show "three sheets"...LEDERHOSEN!
evidence: lederhosen on the wall behind craig's head!
german beer taps only. no miller lite here, folks!! craig even tried a beer brewed since 1040...

german girl in a german bar...
then craig surprised me by reminding me that i had wanted to scope out the french culinary institute in soho...(we're touring it on my birthday in two weeks!)
and he went on to surprise me with a stroll past heath ledger's apartment...we paid our respects.
this picture is nearly identical (we recreated it) to a photo i snapped of craig on a visit to this same exact bar back in 2002...
and then of course here's me and my other boyfriend zane, the host of "three sheets"! cheers!
